How do I pay a parking ticket?

Parking ticket fines are listed on the ticket. There will be a check mark next to what violation(s) you have been cited for.

For your convince, parking tickets are printed on a self addressed envelope. Simply insert payment, seal the envelope, add postage, and drop it in the mail. Alternatively, Parking tickets can be paid in person at dispatch 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

***Please note: If we do not receive your payment with in 5 days of the citation issued date, the fine doubles!

If the issuing officer noted that a Personal Appearance is not Required you can pay the citation prior to the court date. You will need to contact Dispatch for your total cost, the fine plus the court fee. Dispatch can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 330-482-9292. The citation must be paid prior to the court date on the bottom of the ticket.

If the issuing officer noted that a Personal Appearance is Required you must appear in the court listed on the citation at the date and time provided. The court will provide you with the total cost at that time.

Driving Under the Influence and Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle are among the charges which require a court appearance. I was issued a citation but wish to appear in Court, where do I go?

You will need to appear in court on the date and time that the issuing officer noted on the Citation.  The Columbiana Police Department issues citations in 3 different Courts. Columbiana Mayors Court, Columbiana County Municipal Court, and Mahoning County Court #5. Please see the section below for directions to your particular Court.

My Son or Daughter was issued a  traffic citation, now what?

The Juvenile Court will contact you with a date and time that your child must appear in court. The Juvenile Court will provide you with the total cost as well as any restrictions during the court appearance.

I was involved in a motor vehicle accident, how do I get a copy of the report?

Once a report has been approved by a Supervisor, you may stop by the station and the dispatcher on duty can provide you with a copy. Report Approval is normally completed with in 24 hours from the time the report was taken. There is a fee of $1 for all report copies, $10 for reports that contain pictures. Pictures are provided on a CD-ROM for your convince.

You can also send a request for the crash report along with payment to the station. Please include the case number that you were provided. If you are unsure of the case number, simply include the driver’s full name that was involved in the crash.

Is Columbiana really in 2 different Counties?

Yes. The majority of the City is located in Columbiana County. However, a small portion on the northern edge is in Mahoning County. If you are issued a Citation in the City, the respective county that you were cited in maintains it’s court jurisdiction. Columbiana Mayor’s Court covers the entire city regardless of which county you are in.

I received a letter in the mail that contained a check with instructions to cash it, what do I do?

Do NOT cash the check! This is a scam that is widely circulated. If you are unsure what to do, please contact dispatch and request to speak with an officer or stop by the station and speak with one there.

I received a letter in the mail that claims to be from a loved one and asked me to wire them money, is this legitimate?

In most cases this is a scam. People from foreign countries work hard to obtain a list of family members and tend to prey on the elderly. Do not wire money per the letters instructions! We do suggest that you check with family to make sure that your loved one is ok. If you are unsure what to do, please contact dispatch and request to speak with an officer or stop by the station and speak with one there.

Someone just came to my door offering to seal my driveway at an unbelievable price, is this legitimate?

Someone usually approaches you driving an older, usually non-descript work truck like a small dump or pick up truck. They explain how they were in the area doing numerous paving jobs and “just happen” to have excess paving material they have to get rid of. Then they offer you the super blow-out price you just can’t turn down.. Please, turn it down, most of the time these con artists will simply coat your driveway with spent dirty oil, they’ll tell you to avoid parking for several days. The con men that try this scam usually have no markings on their truck(s) and will write bills on questionable stationary. Rarely are they ever from a local, verifiable address. If you are unsure if a solicitor is legitimate, contact dispatch at 330-482-9292 and verify that the person has obtained a solicitors permit from the Chief of Police.
